The UK’s favourite European destination named best value for 2027




The best-value destinations have been named in new research, and they are perfect for British holidaymakers looking to make their money go further next year.And despite Spain’s popularity among Britons — around 17.8 million British holidaymakers visit each year — it remains affordable, with Bilbao topping the list. At the same time, geopolitical instability is making travellers more conscious of risk, increasing the importance of trusted information, flexibility and transparency.”Bilbao, SpainTaking the top spot is Bilbao, where Skyscanner found airfares had dropped by a striking 66 per cent. The Basque Country city offers plenty for holidaymakers beyond its reputation as a food destination, from the striking Guggenheim Museum to its atmospheric old town and surrounding countryside.Visitors can also use Bilbao as a base for exploring northern Spain, with the region known for its dramatic coastline, traditional pintxos bars and distinctive Basque culture.Wrocław, PolandSecond on the list is Wrocław, where prices have fallen by 47 per cent year-on-year. The Polish city is known for its colourful market square, historic architecture and network of waterways, making it a good option for holidaymakers looking for a European city break without the prices that can come with some of the most popular destinations. The French city is particularly good for those interested in food, wine and architecture, and its elegant historic centre and riverside setting give plenty to explore.Holidaymakers have easy access to the wider Bordeaux wine region, making it suitable for a longer break as well as a city escape.The report found that 82 per cent of Britons plan to travel as much, or more, in 2027, so looking for more affordable holiday spots can make this dream a reality.
