The cheapest summer family holiday destination from every region of the UK

Summer 2026 holiday prices vary more than many families expect, and where you fly from could make a difference of hundreds of pounds.New research from TravelSupermarket shows the cheapest destinations for UK families this summer, and there are clear regional trends in different parts of the country. For families across much of England, Costa Brava dominates as the best-value destination. Whether departing from London, the Midlands, the North West or the North East, this stretch of Spanish coastline consistently comes out on top thanks to its balance of beaches, reliable sunshine and competitive prices. However, the data shows that the “cheapest holiday” isn’t the same for everyone. While English regions benefit from lower prices to Spain, Scottish travellers are better off heading further afield as Agadir offers the best value north of the border.Costa Brava consistently ranked as the cheapest destination | GETTYFamilies in Scotland can find a seven-night break in Agadir for around £660 per person, according to the research, making it the best-value option overall across the UK. Meanwhile, those flying from Wales and the South West will find the top deals in Costa Dorada, with Portugal’s Algarve also featuring as a strong-value alternative in that region alone. In contrast, Northern Ireland sees significantly higher prices across the board. Even the cheapest option – again Costa Brava – comes in at £805 per person, up to £170 more than other parts of the UK.Elsewhere, travellers in the North West have access to a wider mix of value destinations, including Bulgaria’s Varna and Bourgas, giving a variety of affordable options beyond Spain and Morocco. The research highlights how flight availability, regional airport competition and demand all play a role in shaping prices. Even for the same destination, families can pay significantly different amounts depending on where they depart from. Flexibility in this is a great way to cut travel costs.Head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, Chris Webber, said: “Where you fly from has a bigger impact on what you pay than most families realise. “Costa Brava keeps coming up as the value pick across much of the UK – it’s got the beaches, the climate and the price point that makes it hard to beat for a week away in summer. But for families in Scotland or the North West, Agadir is right up there and absolutely worth a look if you haven’t considered it before.”Cheapest summer family holiday destinations (average price per person)London (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City, Southend)Costa Brava | £679Italian Lakes | £690Costa Dorada | £710Marrakesh | £737Varna Area, Bulgaria | £759North West (Manchester, Liverpool)Costa Brava | £636Agadir | £638Varna Area, Bulgaria | £709Marrakesh | £711Bourgas Area, Bulgaria | £737Families in Scotland can secure a seven-night break in Agadir for around £660 per person | GETTY The Algarve in Portugal is another budget-friendly option | GETTY North East (Leeds Bradford, Humberside, Newcastle)Costa Brava | £643Agadir | £688Lanzarote | £734Malta | £765Costa Blanca | £785Midlands (Birmingham, East Midlands)Costa Brava | £652Italian Lakes | £661Costa Dorada | £709Marrakesh | £768Costa Blanca | £770Scotland (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Prestwick)Agadir | £660Costa Dorada | £754Costa Blanca | £764Malta | £806Sicily | £820Wales and South West (Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter)Costa Dorada | £659Costa Blanca | £739Algarve | £762Sicily | £783Fuerteventura | £786Northern Ireland (Belfast City, Belfast International)Costa Brava | £805Costa del Sol | £810Costa Blanca | £827Costa Dorada | £837Malta | £845
