Beverley Callard has revealed she has passed the halfway point in her radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer.The 69-year-old, who portrayed Liz McDonald on the ITV soap from 1989 to 2020, posted a video update to her 317,000 Instagram followers this weekend from outside St Luke’s Hospital.Dressed in a leopard print jumpsuit, the star told fans: “Sitting in the garden outside St Luke’s Hospital. Just finished number six. I’ve just arrived. Jon brought me in for the first day. I have to tell you – it’s like first day back at school. “I’m really nervous and on edge but nicely so,” she shared in a video.However, the actress reported the day exceeded her expectations, saying: “Home from first day back at work. Do you know what? It was fantastic!”She added that colleagues were delighted to see her and she shared plenty of laughter with Emily, who plays her on-screen daughter.Ms Callard’s radiotherapy schedule consists of 10 sessions in total, spread across five consecutive days followed by a weekend break, then another five days.Following her hospital visit, the actress shared a lighthearted clip at home with her two Giant Black Russian Terriers, one sitting beside her on the sofa and the other on the floor.”I just wanted a bit of peace,” she said, before her husband Jon remarked from behind the camera: “They are ridiculous.
