Britons heading to Europe could face fewer delays as EES checks scrapped at busy borders until 2027

However, the rollout has raised concerns about delays at busy airports and other border crossings.Fewer than half of British travellers who had visited Europe had been through EES checks since the phased rollout began, according to ABTA research.Of those who had used the system, half said they had passed through the border in less than 30 minutes, while 87 per cent waited less than an hour. However, others noted lengthy delays.ABTA has called for the contingency measures allowing checks to be suspended to be extended into 2027, if necessary, to help the rollout continue smoothly.
