At least 26 killed in ‘terror attack’ after gunmen open fire at tourist hotspot




At least 26 tourists have been killed and ten injured after gunmen opened fire at a popular beauty spot in Indian-controlled Kashmir.Most of the victims were Indian, although two foreign nationals are also reportedly among the dead.Officials have described the shooting as a “terror attack”, blaming it on militants opposing Indian rule. The VP was in the western city of Jaipur when the attacks occurred. Two senior officials said at least four gunmen fired at dozens of horrified tourists from close range on Tuesday.Many of those injured are said to be in a serious condition.Omar Abdullah, the region’s main elected official, said: “This attack is much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.“The death toll is still being ascertained.”More to follow…
