Consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins is one of the answers to a longer lifespan, according to a GP.Women’s Health GP at the Harley Street GP clinic, The London General Practice, Dr Elise Dallas has shared her tips for longevity. Kefir and kombucha can be wonderful additions to a healthy diet. “They provide probiotics, support gut health, and offer potential benefits for digestion and overall well-being. Including these fermented foods in your diet may bring positive changes.”Fermented foods have been shown to improve health and digestion as well as better immunity and increased weight loss.Dr Dallas also recommended trying intermittent fasting, which is an eating pattern that changes between periods of eating and fasting.Dr Dallas said: “As a GP, I’ve found intermittent fasting to be a fascinating approach to maintaining good health. It has been associated with various health benefits, including reduced inflammation, improved brain function, and enhanced cellular repair processes.”The doctor explained that some studies prove intermittent fasting to be an effective measure for people to take, but re-iterated the importance of speaking to your doctor before trying any of these out.Dr Dallas advised: “Some studies suggest it may have a positive impact on longevity, although more research is needed to fully understand these effects.
