The Sussexes are on their way to the UK. Or not, as the case may be. Guess what? The British taxpayer doesn’t fancy paying for their security.Apparently, the spoilt brat, the Duke of Sussex, may well throw his toys out of the pram once again after announcing his visit to the UK.The Prince learned that his family would not receive police protection during what was intended to be a five-day Invictus Games-related visit.After compromising his own security and that of his family in his book Spare, where he revealed his kill count in Afghanistan and whinged ged about how terrible it is to be the son of a king.Prince Harry has been on what I would describe as a crusade to destroy the British press, whom it appears he blames for the death of his mother.Harry has taken both the press and the Home Office to court, and he’s chucked in what I believe to be a dose of emotional blackmail.He has, in my view, used his children as a bargaining chip to demand the highest level of protection afforded to working royals.That was role that he and his wife turned their noses up at in their pursuit of a worldwide privacy tour.The prince has insinuated that without the highest levels of protection, he couldn’t possibly bring his wife and kids to the UK.Although he did manage a faux royal tour in countries which I regard as two of the most dangerous places on earth, Nigeria and Colombia. If the visit goes ahead, the Duke of Sussex and his family will receive taxpayer-funded security only when they are at a royal property, and the King has invited them to do just that for part of their trip.The Duke is apparently desperate for Archie, who is seven, and Lilibet, to see their grandfather, the King, whom they last saw four years ago.I’m sorry, but I’m not buying that. The conditions are 28 days’ notice for a security request, and it’s on a case-by-case basis. And of course, protection if they are in royal buildings.So here’s the thought, Harry: why don’t you apply for protection for a visit for you and your family, with the sole purpose of taking the children to see the King? Not one where you swan around promoting other stuff. You are no longer a working royal, a position that you chose for yourself. Remember what the Queen said. You can’t be half in and half out.Invictus is a laudable cause which you are free to support as an individual. But instead of combining non-royal causes with visiting your dad, how about you privately visit your dad with the kids?I’m sure they’ll give you all the protection you need.Istead of using it, in my view, as another photo opportunity to plug you and your wife’s wares.
