King Charles visits scene of terror attack at Manchester synagogue




King Charles has travelled to Manchester to show his continued support to the Jewish Community and those impacted by the attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on October 2nd.The King will also meet emergency service personnel to acknowledge their efforts in supporting the local community.During his first engagement at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, the King met members of the community, including some of those who were present during the October 2nd attack.Last Thursday was the first time the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue had reopened following the attack.King Charles has travelled to Manchester to show his continued support to the Jewish Community and those impacted by the attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on October 2nd. | GETTYThe Manchester synagogue was targeted in a car and knife attack by Jihad Al-Shamie, 35.Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby were killed in the attack and three others were seriously injured.Al-Shamie drove a car into a security guard, stabbed a congregant, before he tried to force entry into the synagogue.Members of the local community barricaded the doors to the synagogue to stop Al-Shamie from getting in to the building.The King met members of the community, including some of those who were present during the October 2nd attack. | GETTYMr Daulby suffered a gunshot wound after armed police officers responded to the incident and shot Al-Shamie dead.King Charles released a statement following the horrific attack outlining his and Queen Camilla’s shock.The King said on October 2nd: “My wife and I have been deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific attack in Manchester, especially on such a significant day for the Jewish community.“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this appalling incident and we greatly appreciate the swift actions of the emergency services.”King Charles released a statement following the horrific attack outlining his and Queen Camilla’s shock. | GETTYRabbi Daniel Walker said regarding Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue reopening: “I’ve been surprised by the question a few times, is the shul open?”People seem to imagine that we wouldn’t be, we most definitely are.“Many people were nervous of returning, understandably.
